Additional Information OCA members Wayne Johnson and Doug Millar were among its co-discoverers, making the discovery visually, then verifying it with the CCD image shown at left, in which the supernova is nearly embedded in M51's nucleus. The processed image at right clearly shows it to be a distinct object.
