Special Interest Groups

With over 800 members in the club it will be no surprise to find our members enjoy a variety of different specific astronomical interests. To cater for this we have various special interest groups (SIGs). Generally the SIGs meet at least once per month in various venues.

AstroImagers

The AstroImagers are a group of members involved with AstroImaging using a wide variety of techniques and equipment. The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month. Check the calendar for the meeting location and times.

Outreach

Although not formalized into a special interest group the Outreach volunteers probably meet more often than any other group. Our Outreach coordinator organizes a large group of member volunteers who donate their time and expertise at the many outreach events that occur throughout the month. The club members take their telescopes out to various schools, libraries and other public venues to share the wonderful experience of Astronomy with thousands of members of the public each year. Jim is always looking for additional volunteers to help spread the load. We are also always interested in considering new outreach requests from schools, scouts and other organizations.
