09/01/07 Black Star Canyon recap

Posted On September 2, 2007

It was 93 F when I opened the gate at 6:40 pm and it was still 77 F when I closed the gate just after midnight. We had 30 cars come out Saturday evening and it was warm and clear. Some even saw Europa passing in front of Jupiter early with all the other moons lined up on the other side.

We could see many deep sky objects like the Ring Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, star cluster M15 and many other Messier objects. Also seen were some meteors and several satellites but we missed the Iridium flare at 9 pm.

Everyone seemed to have a good time and no one got cold!
