02/10/07 Black Star Canyon recap

Posted On February 12, 2007

Rained out? Umbrellas? Nope…semi clear evening!

I arrived to open the gate about 5 pm just as Hassi was catching the setting sun with
his filtered scope. There were clouds but it was clear enough to see Venus and even Mercury after the sunset. At 6:54 we got to see the ISS
space station go over…it was bright & magnificent. Orion and the winter hexagon objects were very clear and later Saturn rose and was spectacular. We had about 10 cars come out and everyone had a good time…and the temperature was in the mid 50’s. It finally clouded over about 9 pm and everyone left by about 9:30. Just another successful Black Star Canyon star party!
