Additional Information M87 is one of the most massive galaxies. Its full extent is not shown in this image; in longer exposures it appears much larger. However, short exposures best reveal its most notable feature -- a "jet" which is believed to be created by a black hole. 30-second exposure, 15 May 1994 at 07:09 UT.
