Additional Information The earliest (as far as we know) deliberately taken post-discovery image of Comet Hale-Bopp (small, diffuse object near the left edge), and also the only one that shows it in the same field as the globular cluster M70 (right edge of image), which was what both of its discoverers were observing when they noticed something that didn't belong in the field of view.
