We should have another warm, clear night at BSC this Saturday for the last summer star party of 2009. Come on out and enjoy the fun and excitement.
New Board Member Kyle Coker adds his comments on the EE PC and highlights a great astronomical usage of the mini netbook in running a telescope.
We had a nice warm clear evening last Saturday where 20+ cars came out plus many visitors who parked on Blackstar Canyon Road. Jupiter was spectacular but Neptune was elusive.

Should be a clear night Saturday and warm…we may never need a coat. Summer star parties in Orange are hard to beat!
It was overcast last Saturday evening and the only thing I could see at 7:30 PM was the sun setting and then it too was hidden by clouds.
Looks like the June Gloom may clear up this Saturday so we can hold another fun star party at nearby BSC.
There will be a special meeting of the OCA Board this Sunday, 6/14/09. This is at the usual time, 5:30, with the pre-meeting potluck at 5:00, and will be at the Lockheed Martin facility in Irvine. We had 56+ people at the star party Saturday evening including 10 Nature Conservancy guests and 10 guests from the Santiago Canyon Astronomy course Hassi teaches. It was a mild evening and everyone seemed to have a great time.
