After a lot of hard work by Edison and Anza Power, the electricity is back on for the Anza Valley, including our Anza site. They had to repair about 2 miles of transmission lines and supporting structures, a lot of it in inaccessible areas, so it was a major endeavor, but they actually got it done earlier than their announced target date, which was 8/6/18. So, if you go out to Anza, you should have power and water.

We need volunteers to help out at the “Bring your Scope” Beginner’s Class Friday evening for two hours.
I am very pleased to announce that the Board has selected Doug Millar to fill the vacant Trustee position on the Board for 2017. This means that we will have a full Board again for the next Board meeting, which is on March 5, 2017, and we are looking forward to having Doug join us then.
Many thanks to John Hoot and William Daly for volunteering for the position, though William had to withdraw his candidacy before the vote because of other commitments. We are hoping they will both continue to be involved in the club and interested in its management, and that we may see either or both of them on the Board at some point in the future.

The well service that installed our new well pump and the new water storage tank on the Anza site has corrected the plumbing problem that caused the lack of water at the observatory and Anza House. Water should now be going to both of them, and everything should be back to normal. If anyone observes any problem with the water while out there, please let Alan Smallbone or me know about it.

Unfortunately, Steve Short found that he was unable to continue in the position of OCA President and has resigned that position. The Board has voted me in to fill the vacancy, so I will have the honor of serving the club as the OCA President for 2017.
We are very grateful to Steve for his many contributions to the club, as President, Board member, and in his many other capacities and activities in the time he has been an OCA member, and we wish him and Bonnie the very best for the future.
The Anza site is still without water, and a new pump for the well can’t be installed until 1/31/17. We will post updates here and in the email groups if there are any changes, and to let you know when the site is open again. Please note that no water means we have no toilet facilities on site.
The weather is not looking good for a Saturday star party.
