Black Star Canyon 08/19/06

We had 18 cars at Black Star Canyon last Saturday evening with about 30 people. The ISS (International Space Station) flew over right on schedule at 8:27 PM and was pointed out for all to see. Jupiter was bright and the belts could be seen clearly. Some of us even looked at the greenish planet Uranus and bluish Neptune seeing a small disc.
There were plenty of Messier objects visible around Saggitarius and other constellations. The Andromeda Galaxy was just barely visible to the naked eye. It stayed fairly warm all evening although some put on jackets at sundown. It was 62 F when I closed the gate just after midnight.
