When I came out to BSC about 8 pm, all was going well and guest host Don Stoutenger was setting up his scope. Matt Ota gave a night sky tour when it got dark and then entertained the crowd at his scope which was set up to show objects on a video screen.

We had a number of guests from the Nature Conservancy show up after their bat watch hike, in time for Matt’s talk. The sky was so dark, we could see the Milky Way early stretching from Sagittarius through the Summer Triangle down through Cassiopeia.

I understand everyone decided to call it a night around 11 pm so Don was able to close the gate a bit early.
