Blackstar Canyon star party 01/21/06

Posted On January 26, 2006

We had about 15 cars at Blackstar this past Saturday evening with several new members and guests there for the first time. The evening started off cool and got downright cold (35 F) before the last people left at 10 PM. The night sky became clearer as time went by and we had fun looking at all sorts of deep sky objects including The Orion Nebula, the Andromeda galaxy, some star clusters and even the asteroid 4 Vesta…which was visible to the naked eye. We also had some spectacular views of Saturn but Mars is now too far away for us to see planet detail.
